Treatments: excavation of artifact materials from marine concretions; extraction of chlorides from artifact materials; chemical reduction of corrosion products on iron, bronze, silver, and lead artifacts; removal of iron stains from ceramics; chelation of corrosion products from textiles; PEG impregnation and freeze-drying of waterlogged wood. Graduate Research: corrosion of tin alloys. Expeditions: Faure Island (unidentified wreck); Perseverant (French whaler, 1841), Shark Bay, Western Australia; Omeo (barque, 1858), Cockburn Sound, Western Australia. Duties: sampling sea water for pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen content; measuring pH and corrosion potentials in situ for artifact profiles; drafting conservation reports for wreck inspection records; video recording land-site profile; post excavation stabilization and preparation of excavated materials for transport.
